Focus

International review of use, effectiveness, impact and lessons from adoption of fiscal levers (including taxes, levies and charges) to deliver Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emission reductions in the context of Net Zero.

Purpose of project

To evaluate, for a typology of fiscal levers that have been adopted or considered to reduce GHG emissions. Review and critically assess the evidence on their use, design, effectiveness in terms of GHG reduction, revenue generation and distributional impacts.

  • In-depth case studies of a wide range of examples, including evidence of their effectiveness and any key lessons
