João Pedro is a biodiversity expert with 25 years of experience in EU policy implementation and evaluation. He has delivered successful projects for the European Commission, private sector organizations, and NGOs, demonstrating his ability to work with diverse stakeholders.
João Pedro's professional background is rooted in his expertise in supporting the implementation of EU environmental policy, particularly in the areas of biodiversity and Natura 2000, through the utilization of EU funded projects such as LIFE and HORIZON programmes. His knowledge also extends to evaluate the impact on environment and climate of EU policies and programmes such as agriculture (CAP) and European Regional Policy Funds (ERDF).
With his strong background in strategic environmental assessments (SEAs), João Pedro has also played a crucial role in conducting SEA of EU programs such as Rural Development and Interreg, and Environmental Action Plan of Bosnia Herzegovina. Additionally, he has experience in EU protected habitats and species management and conservation, ecosystem restoration, and nature-based solutions. He has conducted Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) of energy, tourism, and industry projects as well.
